Renato Girolami, Baritone![]() Renato Girolami was born in Italy. In addition to his studies in English and German he studied singing with Sesto Bruscantini in Rome, with Ernst Haefliger at Musikhochschule München, where he received his diploma as "concert singer"; and also studied with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin. His first engagements led him to Passau, Landestheater Salzburg and Volksoper Wien. From 1991 to 1996 Renato Girolami was member of the ensemble of Wiener Staatsoper. There he performed i. a. as Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro; i.a. conducted by Riccardo Muti), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Dulcamara and Belcore (L'elisir d'amore), Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Taddeo (L'Italiana in Algeri), Fra Melitone (La forza del destino), Schaunard (La Bohème), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) and Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola). Since 1996 he has been freelancing. Girolami was invited as guest to perform Figaro in St. Gallen; Conte (Le nozze di Figaro) in Bari; Leporello in Salzburg, St. Gallen, Sao Paolo, Venice, at Schwetzinger Festspiele, at Hamburgische Staatsoper and in Strasbourg; Papageno at Teatro Liceu in Barcelona; Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) in St. Gallen, Essen, Santiago de Chile and Zurich; Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Karlsruhe and Oslo; Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Marseille, where he was egally to be heard as Sharpless; Schaunard in Naples and Tokyo; Germont in St. Gallen; Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Essen, Cologne and at Wiener Staatsoper; Dulcamara in Florence and at Hamburgische Staatsoper; Don Pasquale in Essen; Taddeo at Wiener Staatsoper, in Cagliari and in Essen, where he also made his role debuts as Marcello and Dr. Falke. At Semperoper in Dresden he made his debut as Don Magnifico, and in Tel Aviv as Mustafa (L’Italiana in Algeri) whereas Hamburgischen Staatsoper invited him for his debut of Don Geronio (Il turco in Italia). At Salzburger Festspiele he performed Osmin (Zaide). In the season 2007/08 Girolami sang Bartolo in Gothenburg; and anew Dulcamara and Don Geronio in Hamburg. He also performed once more Taddeo in Essen and in Athens and returned to Tel Aviv as Fra Melitone. In Berlin he made his debut at Staatsoper unter den Linden as Don Geronio. During the season of 2009/10 he performed as Bartolo at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, in Stuttgart, Hamburg and at Bayerische Staatsoper München; exactly there and in in Berlin he was also anew on stage as Don Geronio. At the Naxos-Label he can be heard as Leporello in the complete recording of Don Giovanni and as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. Present and future projects:
