Stefan Blunier operatic debut in the UK, Henze’s Elegy for young lovers with ENO/Young Vic (dir. by Fiona Shaw)

After two triumphant operatic first nights this season with his own Beethoven Orchestra Bonn (Elektra/ Der Golem - D’Albert) Stefan Blunier made his first appearance on a UK stage as conductor of Henze’s „Elegy for Young Lovers”, produced by ENO at the Young Vic and directed by Fiona Shaw. After his great success a reinvitation is most certain.

Andrew Clements wrote in The Guardian “...and the power of Henze's wiry, intense score for an ensemble of 23 players emerges, especially in this performance, superbly conducted by Stefan Blunier. ...”

Further operatic guest engagements of Stefan Blunier include „Tannhäuser” at Semperoper Dresden, a new production of “Dialogue des Carmelites” at Komische Oper Berlin and “Daphne” at Frankfurt Opera.
